Personalise your home with the Lumo paint benefit – it’s easy and environmentally friendly
Lumo Homes has released a colour chart of 22 shades from which it is easy to pick your preferred colours for your interior walls. The paint benefit package is free of charge for residents of Lumo Homes and, in addition to the environmentally friendly paints, the package includes all supplies from paint rollers to masking tape.
Is now the perfect time to repaint your walls with the free paint benefit provided for Lumo residents?
For residents, selecting the perfect colours to match their taste and home is easy with the new Lumo colour chart. In addition to basic white it features soft, muted shades of yellow, red, blue, green, brown and greys in neutral and timeless tones. Every shade collection has a darker shade suited especially for painting effect walls. The colours have been selected from Tikkurila’s Tunne värit collection.
In the downloadable Lumo colour chart, each colour has a link to Tikkurila’s website. Click on the link to further explore each colour. The colours may not appear completely correctly on the screen of a mobile phone, computer or tablet, which is why Tikkurila’s website recommends taking paint samples home and for circumstances the paint is being selected.
Environmentally friendly paint
For Lumo Homes, responsibility and sustainable development are key values in housing. That is why environmental-friendliness is also an important factor when choosing paints.
As a result, all the paints featured in the paint benefit selection are water-soluble. In addition, they have been awarded the Key Flag Symbol, the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, the EU Ecolabel or several of these. Some of the paints have been granted, for instance, the Allergy Label or the M1 low-emission classification.
Don’t forget your free painting supplies
Paint alone is not enough for painting your walls. You will also need paint rollers, brushes, masking tape, a paint tray... The Lumo paint benefit also includes all of these. The resident can pick up the package with paints and suppliese from a K-Rauta hardware store agreed upon.

Before painting…
Before you start painting, it’s a good idea to carefully protect floors, skirting boards and surfaces other than those being painted. And don’t forget to cover yourself! In addition, any possible holes in walls should be filled and walls should be washed before painting to ensure an even and smooth finish.

... and after painting
Once the paint job is done, you should wash the supplies immediately so the paint doesn’t dry and stick to the supplies. If you need the painting supplies the next day, place washed brushes and rollers in an air-tight plastic bag for the night.
You should keep the painting supplies in case you will be bitten by the painting bug again, or you can recycle them and give them to a friend. If storing or recycling is not possible, you can dispose of dry brushes, rollers and paint trays in mixed waste.
Paints, putty and thinners as well as water used to wash painting supplies are waste hazardous to the environment. They should be taken to a hazardous waste collection point. You can find the collection points at kierratys.info. Dry and clean paint tins can be taken to a mixed waste or metal waste receptacle, according to the material of the tin.
The paint benefit is not available in new or renovated Lumo buildings during the first two years.
