3 flower bouquet ideas for spring
With fresh flowers, bringing colour and joy to your home is easy. Two florists, Henna Riikonen and Anna Korpinen from the flower shop Harjun Kukka, in Kallio, Helsinki, gave inspiration for creating three flower bouquets for spring.
A long-lasting and beautiful flower bouquet can be created by combining natural materials and products from a flower shop. See tips from the florists on how to succeed in tying the bouquets. A spring bouquet is also an excellent gift for Mother’s Day!
Bouquet 1: The Spring Meadow
For the Spring Meadow, you need
- Limonium
- Persian buttercup
- Peruvian lily
- Snapdragon
- Poppy anemone
- Clematis
- Blueberry twigs
“Change the water and make clean cuts in the flower stems every three days. Remember to wash the vase to make the bouquet last longer.”
Bouquet 2: The Dreamy Carnation
For the Dreamy Carnation, you need
- Carnation
- Ruscus
- Eucalyptus
How to succeed in tying the Spring Meadow and the Dreamy Carnation

- Remove the lower leaves that would be under water
- Pick the flowers individually into a bouquet
- Tie the bouquet lightly with a jute string
- Shorten the flower stems to the right length and make clean cuts with a sharp knife or cutter
Bouquet 3: The Fluffy Paradise
For the Fluffy Paradise, you need
- Protea
- Blueberry twigs
- Hay
- Limonium
How to set the Fluffy Paradise into a vase
- Wash the vase and put clean water in it
- Remove the lower leaves that would be under water
- Shorten the flower stems to the right length and make clean cuts with a sharp knife or cutter
- Set the flowers freely in the vase
“You can make the bouquet personal by combining flowers from the flower shop with natural materials. In the spring time, budding branches bring a delightful addition to the bouquet. Remember, that natural materials may only be collected with the landowner’s permission.”
Keep the bouquet long-lasting with these tips from the florists
- Remember to wash the vase, change the water and cut new surfaces in the stems every three days
- Do not place the bouquet near fruit
- Keep the flowers in a cool temperature, for example overnight
- Ask your florist for the correct water temperature; cold water for grass stems and warm water for woody stems
