Bulevardi 31
New Lumo homes will be completed in November 2023 on the iconic Bulevardi, in the heart of Helsinki, as the historic old chemical factory buildings are made into residential properties. The project includes two old buildings, the New and Old Chemistry buildings, previously part of the Chemical Department of the Helsinki University of Technology. A total of 77 high-quality apartments will be created in the four-story Old Chemistry building and the five-story New Chemistry building.
The red-brick Old Chemistry building was made in 1899 as a chemistry laboratory for the Helsinki University of Technology. The building was designed by architect Onni Tarjanne, also known for designing the Finnish National Theatre. The Old Chemistry building was replaced in 1949 by the New Chemistry building, which has a more minimalist modernist style. The architect behind this design was Johan Sigfrid Sirén, who also designed the Finnish Parliament House. Most recently, the Old and New Chemistry buildings were used as teaching and office spaces for Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.
These buildings now have unique urban homes. Some apartments feature ceiling heights of over four meters, and there are also stunning attic apartments with their own terraces. Some apartments also include balconies. The renovation process and interior design of the homes have carefully preserved the cultural and historical value of the buildings while having high-quality, timelessly stylish materials and furnishings. For example, all apartments feature beautiful, durable oak parquet flooring.
The differences of the Old and New Chemistry buildings, both in style and history, is shown in their interiors. The Old Chemistry apartments, with their red brick, feature darker tones and rich dark wood, creating a cozy atmosphere. The New Chemistry apartments, with their modern aesthetic, have been designed with light, classic surfaces and wood accents.
A shared laundry and drying room, as well as storage for outdoor equipment, bicycles, and general items, is located in the basement. Residents will also have access to a high-quality sauna area, a remote work and mutual space that functions as an extension of the living room, ideal for gatherings. A cozy small courtyard is perfect for relaxation or children's play. Residents can rent a parking space in the Hietalahti Parking Oy parking garage, or alternatively, parking is available with a resident parking permit.
These homes are in a prime location in the heart of Helsinki, situated between Bulevardi and Lönnrotinkatu, right next to Hietalahden Square. The many services and shopping opportunities of Punavuori and Kamppi are nearby. On the opposite side of the street is the popular Sinebrychoff Park, and the sea is just around the corner.
The rent includes fast 100 Mbps broadband, which is ideal for convenient remote working from home. Pets of all kinds are always welcome in Lumo homes!
