Prestigious properties on Bulevardi get a new life as Lumo homes
Bulevardi 31
Kamppi, 00180 HelsinkiAvailable for renting 3.7.2023Estimated time of completion 1.11.2023
New Lumo homes will be completed on the iconic Bulevardi in the heart of Helsinki in November 2023, when the historic properties of the old chemistry department will get a new life as residential buildings. The property consists of two old buildings, New and Old kemia i.e. the Helsinki University of Technology’s old chemistry department. A total of 77 high-quality apartments will be completed in the four-story Old kemia and the five-story New kemia.
The red-bricked Old kemia was completed in 1899 as the chemistry laboratory building of the University of Technology. The house was designed by the architect Onni Tarjanne, who is also known as the designer of the Finnish National Theatre. New kemia was built in 1949 to replace the oldest laboratory building of the University of Technology, which was destroyed in the war. It represents a more simple modernist style. The architect was Johan Sigfrid Sirén, who also designed the parliament building in Helsinki. Most recently, Old and New kemia served as the teaching and study facilities of Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.
These houses are hiding unique city homes inside. Some of the apartments have a high ceilings of over four meters, and the houses also have wonderful attic apartments with their own terraces. Some of the apartments also have a balcony. In the renovation process of the buildings and the decoration of the homes, efforts have been made to preserve the cultural-historical value and atmosphere of the houses. The carefully selected materials and fixtures are of high quality and timelessly stylish. For example, all apartments will have beautiful, long-lasting oak parquet floors.
The originality of the New and Old kemia buildings, which differ in style and history, is cherished in the interior design: Darker tones and atmospheric dark wood have been chosen for the apartments in the red-bricked Old kemia. The look of the more modern New kemia is complimented with classic light tones and light wood.
A common laundry room and drying room as well as storage for outdoor equipment, bicycles, and other items will be in the basement of the houses. Residents also have access to sauna facilities made with the high quality materials as well as a shared common room that functions almost as an extension to a living room, for example for hosting parties. The cozy little yard is perfect for lounging or for children to play. Residents of the building can rent a parking space from the parking garage of Hietalahden Pysäköinti Oy, or alternatively, parking is possible with a resident parking permit.
These homes are located in a prime location in the heart of Helsinki between Bulevardi and Lönnrotinkatu, right next to Hietalahdentori. The versatile services and shopping opportunities of Punavuori and Kamppi are close by. On the other side of the road is the popular Sinebrychoff park, and the sea is right next door as well.
The rent includes a fast 100 Mbit/s broadband, which enables, for example, convenient remote working from home. Pets of all kinds are also always welcome in Lumo homes!
