Where should you move in Espoo?

The best areas for rental living in Espoo depend on whether you value good public transport connections, proximity to services, a seaside setting, greenery or perhaps a fast connection to Helsinki most. For someone working or studying in Keilaniemi or Otaniemi, the metro connection may be especially important, while Leppävaara, known for its extensive services, suits everyday life where shops, hobbies and fast transport links are wanted close to home. Those who enjoy seaside living may find a suitable home in areas such as Espoonlahti or Matinkylä. Below, we compare Espoo’s five urban centres and their surrounding areas from the perspective of someone looking for a rental apartment.

The Leppävaara area

Leppävaara is one of Espoo’s busiest everyday hubs, with services concentrated around Sello and the railway station. Greater Leppävaara, with around 80,000 residents, is growing quickly, and the area is also home to about 30,000 jobs. The railway makes travel convenient, with easy access from Espoon keskus towards both Helsinki and Kirkkonummi, while bus connections complement transport to nearby areas.
