Changing apartment

It is possible to move from one Lumo apartment to another if these basic conditions are met:

  • You have lived in your current Lumo apartment for at least six (6) months.
  • Your rent payments and living have gone normally.

Terminating your apartment and choosing the end date

Before you terminate your current lease agreement, we recommend that you first rent a new Lumo apartment and attend a viewing. Once your new apartment is confirmed, you can submit a notice of termination in the My Lumo service.

In the notice, select the end date according to the notice period and any minimum period of living. In the additional information field, state that you are changing to another Lumo apartment and indicate the date you would like the lease agreement to end. We will take this into account and send you a confirmation with the confirmed end date and more detailed moving instructions.

Agreeing on the moving day

You can agree on the exact moving day with the sales advisor, including the return and collection of keys.
Rent payment during an overlapping period

In principle, rent is paid for both apartments during any overlapping period. However, the schedule can be arranged so that no overlap is needed.

You can discuss move-in and move-out dates and rent payments in more detail with the sales advisor.

If there are two residents on the lease agreement and one or both change apartments

If the current lease agreement has two residents and only one is changing apartments, the resident can apply for a change or rent a new apartment via the Lumo online store. After this, the resident can agree with the sales advisor how the current lease agreement and rent payments will be handled. Once everything is agreed and the new apartment is confirmed, the resident moving out can terminate their part of the lease agreement.

Please note that if the other resident continues living in the apartment and the minimum stay period is still ongoing, partial termination requires the consent of the remaining resident.

If both residents are moving, either to a shared new apartment or to separate Lumo apartments, both can apply and agree on schedules and termination details with the sales advisor.

Sauna shifts and parking spaces when moving within the same building

If you move to another apartment within the same building, you can often keep your parking space or sauna turn. Please inform the sales advisor in advance or contact customer service via the My Lumo service so this can be arranged.

Rent payment and deposit when changing apartments

Rent payment and deposit matters are always handled case by case.

Any overpayment of rent can be transferred to the new lease agreement. In the My Lumo service, you can view both old and new lease agreement details by changing the address at the top of the page.

Information from the old lease agreement remains available for six months after the agreement ends.
If both lease agreements include a deposit, it can be transferred between agreements. If the new lease agreement does not include a deposit, the deposit from the old lease agreement will be returned about one month after the lease agreement ends, provided all rent has been paid and no additional costs have occurred.

When you rent a new apartment via the Lumo online store, a separate deposit is usually not required. You only pay a 350 € reservation fee, which will be deducted from the first month’s rent.
