Järvenpää is a small and feisty town of 46 000 inhabitants along the main railway line and, as its name suggests, is situated at the end of a lake. On summer evenings, Järvenpää Rantapuisto is filled with sun worshippers and happy chatter. In winter, the lake's ice is packed with people heading there for outdoor activities, skating and skiing.
