    Hermanni

    The neighbourhood of Hermanni is officially divided into Hermanninmäki, Hermanninkylä and Kyläsaari.

    Etelä-Hermanni is a fairly new district in the eastern part of central Helsinki. It celebrated its grand opening in 2012 after the State Veterinary Service and Food Research Institute were relocated. Now part of the Vallila district, Hermanni was fully rebuilt in the 1950s and 60s. Back in the 1890s, Hermanni was a dense residential district of wooden buildings. Today, only a few of the old wooden buildings remain.

    The Hermanni area is a mix of green spaces and urban city living. Urban architecture creates a unique atmosphere in the area that residents will love.

    All good selection of services is available nearby, and the metro, trams and buses serve passengers in the area from early morning until late in the evening. The distance to the centre of Helsinki is around three kilometres, while Hakaniementori market square and the market hall are some 1.5 kilometres away. Nearby areas Vallila, Arabia, Sörnäinen and Kallio also have a great selection of services and things to do. In addition to the excellent public transport, the short distances can be easily covered by foot or bicycle.

    Hermanni has a good range of services to support a diverse population of residents. There are several day-care centres, a primary school and the Teurastamo event and restaurant centre, which used to be an abattoir.
