Checklist before going on a holiday
This checklist for going on holiday helps make sure everything at home is in order even after you return.
You can leave for your holiday with peace of mind by making sure your home stays safe while you’re away:
- Make sure the fire alarms have working batteries. Unplug electrical appliances such as the washing machine and computer.
- Carefully turn off the water supply valves for the washing machine and dishwasher.
- If you want to save energy, switch off the fridge if you’ll be away for more than two weeks. Leave the door slightly open to allow air to circulate.
- Arrange for your post to be redirected to your holiday address.
- Lock the doors securely. Also check that the windows are properly closed so that rainwater cannot enter.
- Check the building notice board for any important announcements.
- For longer absences, it’s a good idea to inform the building manager in case anything happens in your home. You can also leave your contact details for the duration of your holiday.
And most importantly: remember to relax and enjoy your holiday!
