Mustanlahdenkatu 13 is part of a historic residential area that includes several impressive functionalist-style buildings protected by the Finnish Heritage Agency. The neighborhood was originally built by Finlayson in the 1950s for its employees and is located in an excellent area next to Hämeenpuisto.

The building has an interesting historical atmosphere. A neighboring building is known for its connection to the writer Väinö Linna, who lived there while writing The Unknown Soldier.
