About the area
Pähkinärinne
Built on a walnut slope, the green Pähkinärinne area is located between Lammaslampi and Vihdintie, in the south-westernmost part of Vantaa, right on the border with Espoo.
The residential area of Pähkinärinne is part of the Hämeenkylä district and its urban design and cultural history are greatly valued. Hämeenkylä is said to be like a rural idyll in the middle of the city, and Pähkinärinne is described as a perfect combination of urban and natural environment.

There is plenty to do for the outdoorsman and nature lover in Pähkinärinne. The absolute highlight of Pähkinärinne is the beautiful Lammaslampi, with its outdoor trails inviting you to go for a jog. There are a few piers on the shore of the pond where you can sit down to bask in the sun, fish or swim. There is a private beach for dogs on the north side of the pond. There are also golf courses and fitness tracks in the area around the pond.
The actual Pähkinärinne hill which is behind the name of the area, is physically located on the north side of the pond. Also adjacent is Pähkinäpuisto park, a protected walnut grove. Other green areas nearby include Yhteismaa and Soltorp, Helsinginmäki and Juusteninpuisto, as well as Pitkäjärvi with its bird tower. In the winter, there are ski trails from Pähkinärinne to Tuomela and Linnainen, as well as to Leppävaara in Espoo.
